40 Days Without Shopping – Day 1

Happy Ash Wednesday everyone!

As you will all know, today is the first day of Lent. Traditionally a time when people give up something, or many things, that they really love.

For me, that one thing, is shopping. I love it. I shop when I’m happy, sad, bored, lonely, excited, tired, you name an emotion and I will shop during it. Online shopping is a particularly dangerous habit for me. It’s just too accessible!

To say these 40 days are going to be tough is an understatement, but I’m going to give it a go!

I’ll be updating on a regular basis, so make sure to check back and see how I’m doing.

Wish me luck!!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Saturday and Happy Valentines Day everyone!

This is my first Valentines Day as a Wifey, so it feels a little different from last year.
We aren’t huge fans of Valentines Day, but it’s always nice to mark it, for couples and singles. I think it’s a day to show your appreciation for someone that you love. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a Significant Other, it can be a friend, sister, mom, anyone that you love.

We are having dinner with friends tonight which I can’t wait for, but other than that it will be low key for us.

So wherever you are, and whoever you are with, let them know today how much you love them.

Re-wear Recycle

Are you convinced you need to have a new outfit for every night out?

Do you stress over who may have seen you in an outfit before, and how many pictures of said outfit are already all over Facebook?

Are you absolutely broke from buying clothes you only wear once, and are then filling up your wardrobe?

This is something that I have spent a lot of time thinking about. There seems to be so much pressure on people to have a different outfit for absolutely every night out. To me, a €50 dress is not disposable, and I really need to get over this wear-it-once way of life. I have made a conscious effort this year to re-wear clothes. I know we are only in February, but so far I am doing ok. I’ve had several nights out, and been on honeymoon, and I have only bought one new going out dress. Everything else has been worn before.

We can do so much to an outfit to make it look completely different, whether it’s changing the jewellery or shoes going with it, cutting the length, changing your hair, the possibilities are endless.

So, going forward, expect to see lots of new pieces, but definitely more recycling.😊

What are your thoughts on this?

Gorgeous Grammys

So what do we think of the outfits at the Grammys? There were some pretty unusual choices, but there were some really gorgeous pieces too. Plunging necklines were very popular. Kim K and Beyoncé both rocked the look. Kim, in Jean Paul Gaultier, got very mixed reviews, but I don’t know, I kind of like it, and I just love her hair!

Katy Perry was just beautiful in Zuhair Murad. She was just so elegant, and I love love love the Purple LOB!

Anna Kendrick absolutely rocked this Band of Outsiders suit. She is such a babe!!

My absolute favourite, the Grammys Queen in my eyes, Taylor Swift wore Elie Saab. Just stunning, the colour, the shape, the material, everything! Ah-mazing!

Yogilates

Picture the scene: It’s a stunningly beautiful sunny day in the paradise that is the Dominican Republic. The turquoise waves are lapping off the white powdery sand. Palm trees stand tall along the beach as if a defence for the resort. There is a yogilates class just starting on the beach and I decide to give it a go. Now I am really not one for just ‘joining in’ on holidays. I like to sit by the pool or the beach sipping a coctail, reading my book or online shopping(as long as the wifi is good 😂) but this just looked like a bit of fun and something different.
The yoga instructor and all the other students were 50+…so I thought to myself ‘I’ll be brilliant at this’ #FamousLastWords …now I wasn’t terrible, I just wasn’t great, and it turns out that I’m not in as good shape as I thought I was. That’s ok though – it’s January, most of the country are in the same boat. Long story short, even though I was all arms and legs all over the place, I actually really enjoyed it. So that was day one on my yoga journey. I attended the class most days for the rest of my holiday, and who knows what will happen now I’m home!
#yogilates might just start trending!

God Bless ASOS

Have you ever heard the term ‘God Bless ASOS’?
Now it could be just that we Irish are forever blessing everything (or at least it seems that way!), or it could be the fact that no matter what outfit you need, ASOS will have it. Whether it’s a swanky new dress for the races, a new work wardrobe or even just casual wear, ASOS has it, and lots of it. There are no restrictions on choice whatsoever, and I love it. It’s also a great place to get shoes, bags and accessories, you name it, they have it.
I particularly like their workwear, and the fact that you can filter by workwear (nobody has time to trawl through 20 pages for the perfect work blazer).

So, have you said God Bless ASOS recently?

You can shop ’til you drop at ASOS.com

As the song says.. These are a few of my favourite things..

Slogan Envy

Hey guys!

I hope you are all having a good week!

Slogan tops are really popular at the moment, and I have to say I am a big fan. They are fun, and a really cool way to express yourself! Whenever I see a one that I love, I’m immediately on the hunt to put an outfit together for it.

They can be worn in lots of ways, from over skinny jeans and converse, to a skirt with ankle boots. I love to add a statement necklace over a slogan sweatshirt, then it’s instantly dressy.

Top Tip: I find the boyfriend styles aren’t a great style on me, I prefer a more fitted shape, so I would always get these in at least one size smaller than usual.

Check out these trendy pieces from River Island
