Thank You!

WhatClaireLoves.com has now reached 4,000 hits. To say I am proud, happy, delighted is an understatement. When I started writing this blog I wondered would anyone actually read it, and if I’m honest I still wonder, but people (you!) are reading it, and it’s great! I’m delighted! Writing is something I love doing, English used to be my best subject in school, and I loved the creative writing the most. I hadn’t written anything for years, but after my wedding, I found I had more spare time, and wanted a project to get involved in. I had been mulling the idea of a blog over for a few months, even before the wedding, but there was way too much going on at the time to really give it some serious consideration. So, late last October, I sat down with my Hubbie and said right, off the top of my head I can think of 10 things right now I want to write about, and he said go for it. That was the encouragement I needed. That was a Sunday evening, and by that night I had setup WhatClaireLoves.com and the facebook page, and written the first post. Anyway, here we are, 4 months later and I am proudly writing a Thank You for helping me to reach 4,000 hits.
Here’s to the next 4,000!

40 Days Without Shopping – Day 7

I’ve started to make a list of all the things I want once I can shop again. It’s keeping me going. I’ve begun to realise that it may be the actual looking for things that I love the most?

We will see.

In the meantime, here are some pretty things that I wish were mine 💭

40 Days Without Shopping – Day 2

The Universe is taunting me! I got a delivery today from Boohoo of the final bits and pieces for my friends 80s themed hen, which I am very excited for!! Anyway, included in this was a Golden Ticket. I never win anything.. #famouslastwords Of course I win here 😭😭 10% off my next order. It’s literally burning a hole in my pocket. I so badly want to spend it. Lucky for me the expiry isn’t until April so I can use it after Lent.
Then, to add insult to injury, Miss Selfridge go and have a 25% online sale today! Is this for real?! Am I in a parallel universe?😭😭😭

This is more difficult than I thought it would be, and it’s only Day 2…sigh.

This weekend should be interesting!

Wish me luck,
Claire

40 Days Without Shopping – Day 1

Happy Ash Wednesday everyone!

As you will all know, today is the first day of Lent. Traditionally a time when people give up something, or many things, that they really love.

For me, that one thing, is shopping. I love it. I shop when I’m happy, sad, bored, lonely, excited, tired, you name an emotion and I will shop during it. Online shopping is a particularly dangerous habit for me. It’s just too accessible!

To say these 40 days are going to be tough is an understatement, but I’m going to give it a go!

I’ll be updating on a regular basis, so make sure to check back and see how I’m doing.

Wish me luck!!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Saturday and Happy Valentines Day everyone!

This is my first Valentines Day as a Wifey, so it feels a little different from last year.
We aren’t huge fans of Valentines Day, but it’s always nice to mark it, for couples and singles. I think it’s a day to show your appreciation for someone that you love. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a Significant Other, it can be a friend, sister, mom, anyone that you love.

We are having dinner with friends tonight which I can’t wait for, but other than that it will be low key for us.

So wherever you are, and whoever you are with, let them know today how much you love them.

Re-wear Recycle

Are you convinced you need to have a new outfit for every night out?

Do you stress over who may have seen you in an outfit before, and how many pictures of said outfit are already all over Facebook?

Are you absolutely broke from buying clothes you only wear once, and are then filling up your wardrobe?

This is something that I have spent a lot of time thinking about. There seems to be so much pressure on people to have a different outfit for absolutely every night out. To me, a €50 dress is not disposable, and I really need to get over this wear-it-once way of life. I have made a conscious effort this year to re-wear clothes. I know we are only in February, but so far I am doing ok. I’ve had several nights out, and been on honeymoon, and I have only bought one new going out dress. Everything else has been worn before.

We can do so much to an outfit to make it look completely different, whether it’s changing the jewellery or shoes going with it, cutting the length, changing your hair, the possibilities are endless.

So, going forward, expect to see lots of new pieces, but definitely more recycling.😊

What are your thoughts on this?

Gorgeous Grammys

So what do we think of the outfits at the Grammys? There were some pretty unusual choices, but there were some really gorgeous pieces too. Plunging necklines were very popular. Kim K and Beyoncé both rocked the look. Kim, in Jean Paul Gaultier, got very mixed reviews, but I don’t know, I kind of like it, and I just love her hair!

Katy Perry was just beautiful in Zuhair Murad. She was just so elegant, and I love love love the Purple LOB!

Anna Kendrick absolutely rocked this Band of Outsiders suit. She is such a babe!!

My absolute favourite, the Grammys Queen in my eyes, Taylor Swift wore Elie Saab. Just stunning, the colour, the shape, the material, everything! Ah-mazing!
